We are grateful for the customer’s enthusiastic feedback! The idea of transforming a Dudu Chair into a bookshelf was as surprising and delightful for the designer as it was for the client. Such a fun challenge! 😊

The client initially presented three key requirements. First, they wanted the base to be about 10 cm off the ground to conveniently store small stationery drawers. Second, the bookshelf needed to measure 60 cm in length, 30 cm in height, and 20 cm in depth to accommodate books of various sizes perfectly. Finally, they desired a bookend at the back of the shelf to prevent books from sliding off.

Regarding the bookend, the designer carefully considered different approaches. Initially, the idea was to use an alternative material to block the bookend section. However, to maintain the original minimalist appearance of the Dudu Bookshelf and consider cost efficiency, the final choice was to use a rod with a diameter of approximately 2 cm, connected using a half-round tenon. This not only adds geometric beauty to the structure but also slightly protrudes, ensuring that when the bookshelf is placed against a wall, it does not damage the surface.
